About the Artist

   •  Grew up in the Pacific Northwest
   •  Taught art in Seattle Public Schools, Shoreline district
   •  Lived and taught in Guatemala, Libya, Austria, Germany, Colombia, Sudan and Australia,

as part of the Diplomatic Service
   •  Was a mural artist in Portland and Seattle
   •  Became full-time artist in Hawaii, then New Mexico

My background as an art teacher influences my work, as I use a wide variety of mediums to find my voice for each subject. For instance, my flower blossoms have a unique glow which I can only achieve with oil glazes. Then, my forest and mesa paintings need the quickly-built textures of acrylic or mixed media.

My work can be seen at Sage Fine Art Gallery in Taos, New Mexico, and on my website at chermcmackenfineart.com. Original work and archival giclée prints are available. I am also available for commissioned work.
